Asia's Tears

Asia's Tears
Weep for the victims of the China who suffered in the shattering, magnitude 8 earthquake.
The future's hope is dashed for 40,075 Sichuan people were feared dead and most of them were children. They were in their school when the tragedy happened on May 12. Parents were frantic and those who rushed to the site and found their off spring without breath, were overcome by intense grief and sorrow. Many mourned and clinged on the corpse of their love ones and refused to part. Looking at the pictures in the papers, it was heart wrenching. A man even tied his beloved wife's liveless body onto his back on his motorbike and rode off to a faraway land.

Many young children were amputated so that they can freed from the trapped debris from the collapsed building that were hard to remove. Li Yue, a girl who loved to dance and started ballerina classes, had to have left leg amputated. She will never danced the way she used to practise in classes or probablydanced to any happy tune anymore. Her amputated leg will remain painful meomories to her as she ages.

There was a mother who had let her 13 days infant to latch on her breast just before she passed away. When the rescue team found them and pulled her baby away from her breast, the baby cried, as if knowing that would be the last time she will see her mother. It speaks of the unfailing love that a mother has for her child. There was also a report on a rescue worker who left her own 6 month baby at home so that she can nurse and feed those infants who were found at the site of the quake.

A girl was also found miraclously unharmed as she was shielded by her father and grandmother. Her dad was ound to have suffered fractures and many part of his bones were broken. The love and protection of her dad and grandmother has paid off, inorder for their precious one to live.

A man who survived, shared his survivor technique. He ate cigaratte, paper napkin and drank his own urine to get rid of hunger pangs as he was trapped under the rubbles for 124 hours (5 days).

As if Asia has not witness enough calamities, Myanmar also has been hit been Cyclone Nargis on teh May 2. There were corpses in the flooded padi fields, turning black, rotting and the air was filled with a horrible stench. Many were depressed and devasted and without help of any form. Food was the major concern as million were missing, homeless and hungry. The Red Cross is currently supplying the relief effort mostly out of Kuala Lumpur. Once the supplies reach Yangon, Myanmars Red Cross takes over. Alot of these Red Cross volunteers were notable as alot of them have been affected by the Nargis, yet, they chose to use it as a form of strength to spur themsleves on, to help others.

Let's try to donate to Red Cross if we can too, to help our neighbouring countries. The other method of donating is to visit www.google.com/myanmarcyclone to help those in need.

Recent years, there were so many diasters in Asia. Several years ago, we had tsunami, flood in Malaysia and land slide in Indonesia. This is an imperfect world which seems to filled with trouble and also wearing away. As Christians, we comfort ourselves that we are just transpassing. For the time being, let's just do our utmost best to help all our fellow human beings, whenever possible. For the love of God and His people.
